Manisha Jha
Manisha is a self-taugt artist. Born into a community whose women folk have been practicing art during festivals and ceremonies for generations, she started painting at a young age after watching her grandmother Phoolmaya Devi and Mother Manju Jha and other women of her village satlakha in Madhubani District of north Bihar. After her family moved to Delhi, Manisha completed her schooling and a Diploma in Interior Designing and Display from New Delhi Polytechnic for Women. Manisha has been practicing Mithila painting since last Thirty-Five years. Along with painting traditional topics like Durga, Kaali,Krishna-Radha she has been painting on Women empowerment, Global Warming, Cities like Delhi,Banaras, Jaiselmer and Mumbai.some of her series are Kalpavriksha,The Feminine tree Series, Dilli, Ghats of Benaras,Duality.She is one of the first Mithila Artist to Bring Mithila Paintings into Art Galleries.Since,1998,Manisha has had more than fifty exhibitions all over the world.She has been awarded The Prestigious National Award In Mithila Folk Paintings By the Honourable President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee in 2014,Bihar Kala Samman By Hon.Chief Minister of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar,-2015 State Award by Delhi Goverment -2007, Pravasi Bihari Samman by Goverment of Bihar-2015,Jai Prakash Narayan Award..Her painting was selected for Prestigious National Exhibition in 2015.Apart from exhibiting in exhibitions in prominent cities like Delhi,Mumbai,Goa,Banglore,Vadodara,Ahemedabad,Calcutta in India her works has been Exhibited in Santa fe Folk Art Fair in United States of America, Moscow, Mauritius,France,Australia, Canada and the Essl Museum in Vienna.she works and lives in Delhi and Satlakha
